It’s silly and a little bit unfortunate, but the best use for the Touch Bar on the MacBook Pro is undoubtedly dropping random emoji into conversations. But, if you’re looking for an easier way to achieve this important professional goal without spending a grand plus, why not try Rocket — a free Mac app that works just like the emoji finder in Slack.
Just download the app, give it accessibility permissions (go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility) and start typing. It works pretty much anywhere your keyboard does. Enter a colon when you want to use an emoji, type its name, and hit enter again to insert. It’s much more convenient than using the Mac’s built-in emoji keyboard (accessed via control + command + space) and if you buy a license you can add your own custom emoji and gifs. And yes, Rocket was released earlier this year — but it’s good and free so here we are.
