So you’ve pulled your phone out and you’re ready to send a snap from the most lit bar on a Saturday night, when suddenly you’re stunted by the thought: what the hell is this fire track I’m hearing? If this scenario sounds like something you’ve ever experienced, now you can rest easy because using Shazam straight from Snapchat is now a thing.
The two companies today announced a partnership that let Snapchatters use Shazam’s music recognition technology by pressing and holding the camera screen. The Snapchat app will then listen for nearby audio, and you can send the recognized song as a snap to friends — up to 16 of them in one go, if you’d like.
To see the list of songs you’ve Shazamed via Snapchat, you can also find them under Settings so you don’t have to leave the app.
The new feature comes as part of today’s Snapchat update that brings group messaging to the platform at long last. They now make up the many random (and potentially confusing!) features Snapchat’s added recently, from an in-app game to playlists to an AR lens.
