Despite continued reports of constrained supply of the iPhone X ahead of its November 3rd launch, Apple today confirmed that its retail stores will have the device in stock on day one for walk-in customers. Well, it’ll be in stock for the first few people in line, anyway. Apple’s press release says that anyone hoping to walk into an Apple Store and walk out with an iPhone X next Friday is “encouraged to arrive early.” That’s right: the lines of hopeful iPhone buyers camping out overnight are about to make a big comeback after what many perceived to be soft demand for the iPhone 8’s arrival last month.
It’s nice to see that Apple is already confirming that its retail stores will have at least some iPhone X stock to go around. In previous years, certain new iPhone models have completely sold out from preorders and been unavailable for walk-in buyers on release day. The iPhone 7 Plus (and all jet black iPhones) faced this initial shortage in 2016.
The iPhone X goes up for preorder at 12:01AM PT (3:01AM ET) this Friday, October 27th from Apple and authorized resellers. At Apple’s stores, the device will officially go on sale at 8:00AM local time on the 3rd.
