Apple's next software update for the the iPhone will make it easier for users to register as organ donors. According to a report from the Associated Press, the company is adding an "easy sign-up button" for the organ donation registry to its Health app. The AP says the software will be available to all US iPhone users in the fall this year when the next version of Apple's mobile operating system is launched.
A shortage of organ donations has been a longstanding difficulty in the US, and Apple CEO Tim Cook said the problem hit home for him after the death of the company's co-founder Steve Jobs in 2011.
